Childhood bedroom

One last night before it becomes her childhood bedroom.

She was imbedded in every detail of that room, perfectly curated over the last 18 years

The walls had held her through happiness and heartbreak, heard years of laughter, and seen countless tears fall from her eyes, they knew her favorite memories and deepest secrets

Filled with emotion she looked at the posters that lined the room one last time, they watched her grow up, they saw her late nights and early mornings, met all of her best friends

Her childhood dog already asleep on her bed not knowing that he’d go months without seeing her burst through the front door again

As she wept that night she pulled the blankets in tighter because in the morning her house would become her parents home, in the town she grew up in, she finally cried herself to sleep

The next morning came faster than she wanted it to, after saying goodbye to each stuffed animal she wouldn’t be taking with her, she closed the door to her bedroom and with that the chapter in her life called childhood was over
